When choosing a mobile DJ, be sure to ask some of the following questions:
I have included these questions and answers on my website as an educational tool. Most people only hire entertainment once or twice during their lifetime so, perhaps, it is understandable that the only question they ask is usually, "What's your price?". However, there are many other questions that are also relevant if you want to be assured of good results. After all, you would not book your venue, your flowers, your caterer, or your photographer by picking up the phone, calling several, and booking the cheapest, would you?
1. Do you belong to any DJ associations or clubs or do any networking with other Djs?
In the past, I have been a member of the Canadian Disc Jockey Association and the American Disc Jockey Association, meeting the standards of excellence for both organizations. I have networked with high end mobile DJs throughout the globe on the Disc Jockey America website.
2. What are the features included in your packages? What is not included?
I offer a variety of packages customized to your needs. A typical wedding reception is outlined on another page of this website. Pricing varies according to the number of features, the time I spend on site, the time of the year, and other factors such as distance I have to travel.
3. Will you meet to discuss music choices and other matters and do you take requests?
I will gladly meet you to discuss your plans at a location and time of your choosing for an inital no obligation get together. Future meeting locations depend upon the package you decide to go with. Requests are encouraged as it allows me to develop a feel for the crowd's tastes.
4. Will you adjust your volume to suit us and our guests if asked to do so?
Yes, I have always believed that, especially for wedding receptions, people have often not seen each other for a long time or have come from a long distance to be at the event and want to hold conversations at their tables without having to shout to do so. It is your event, you hired me and it is my job to make you and your guests happy.
5. Do you own your own equipment and is it professional DJ equipment?
Yes, I most certainly do. Manufacturers names include Sony, Yamaha, and American DJ.
6. Do you carry back-up equipment with you in case of equipment failure?
I carry back-up with me to most weddings including a power source just in case there is a power failure at the venue.
7. What kind and amount of training/updating have you done in the past?
I attended the Love Story Workshop in February 2007 as well as attending the 2007, 2008, and 2009 Mobile Beat disc jockey conventions in Las Vegas. I attended a Master of Ceremonies workshop in San Francisco in January 2008.
8. Will you be the person at my event? If not, can I meet with the DJ?
I am the owner and sole proprietor of All Night Long DJ Services and do perform at all events. Note: I do have some backup if an emergency arose but I have never missed an event (knock on wood) in over 20 years.
10. How would you be attired at my event?
It is at your option how you would like me attired. For formal weddings, I can wear a tuxedo. For more casual affairs, I will dress suitably to coincide with the feel of the event.
11. Can you provide references?
There is a reference page on this website and I can provide more details if necessary. I do not post full names of my clients on my website for privacy reasons.
12. What type of events do you usually perform at?
Weddings are my bread and butter and what I have decided to specialize in. I also do staff Christmas parties and other types of events on demand.
13. How much time do you allow for set-up?
I like to be at the venue about an hour before the event is scheduled to start so that I can have background music playing as soon as the first guest arrives.
14. Do you provide a written contract?
A contract is signed with all brides and grooms. A copy is kept by myself and another provided to you. At time of booking, an initial payment is taken to seal the deal and then that date is blocked off on my online calendar.
15. Do you have an office where we can meet? Can we meet both before and after booking?
I do have a professional office set up within my house with desk, computer, couch for client meetings, etc. and I will meet with you as many times as it takes to fully understand your dreams, wants, and needs. I will also meet with you at your home, at your venue, a coffee house, or any other place of your choosing.
